YOUNG footballers in Rose Hill will be able to keep developing their skills after the estate’s youth club was handed new funding.

Oxford City Council announced a £1,000 grant for Rose Hill Junior Youth Club, which will allow it to keep paying Oxford City Football Club Ladies’ captain Aliyah Anthony as a coach.

The youth club runs football coaching sessions on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays but they almost became a victim of their own success when costs soared due to the number of youngsters who had signed up.

At one session on Wednesday, May 6, 68 children turned up.

But the city council grant has allowed them to continue running the sessions at full capacity rather than cutting back.
