Carmel’s annual “Design Bright Futures” gala goes virtual this year, with the event scheduled for April 24 at 7 pm. Profits will be donated to the Carmel Youth Assistance Program.
Since 2015, CYAP has worked to strengthen the youth and families of the region through community participation by working in collaboration with Carmel Clay Schools, the City of Carmel and the Superior Court of Hamilton County. CYAP connects families and youth with a variety of resources including mentoring, tutoring, mental health support, food and clothing assistance, financial assistance and more.
“I look forward to a safe and fun virtual event to help support the youth of Carmel,” said Melanie Brewer, ex-officio CYAP board member and chair of the events committee. “This program operates year round to ensure that youth and their families have what they need to be successful, healthy and happy through mentorship, tutoring and linkages to resources.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year’s gala was canceled. While many individual and corporate donors have stepped in to help, the success of this year’s gala is imperative for CYAP to meet its goals for the year, Brewer said.
“After a year of cancellations and uncertainty about hosting in-person events in 2020, hosting a successful fundraiser in 2021 was a priority,” Brewer said. “It is the support of our community partners, board members and volunteers that makes this event happen.
