The Empowerment for Unemployed Youths initiative, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to ensure youth development in the country.

The Executive Director of Youth Initiative, Mr. Richard Audu, who was eulogized at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, also commended the National Assembly for considering the NYSC Trust Fund Bill in second reading.

He said that after critical observation of events under the current administration, it is clear that there is synergy between the executive and the legislature on youth development.

“We have studied the events critically and wish to state that the indices speak positively of the concerted efforts of both branches of government to ensure that issues which trouble the development of young people appear to have received careful attention from both branches of government.

“We are delighted with this development. We hope that this fruitful relationship will eventually produce the desired results in a short time.

“The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has always shown an unwavering commitment to addressing issues of national concern, not just youth development issues.

“The National Assembly has similarly complimented the efforts of the executive branch of government in ensuring that matters of national interest are held without hard feelings.

“The recent revision of the Electoral Law Amendment Bill is indeed proof that both chambers of the National Assembly remain committed to maintaining our nascent democracy,” he said.

Audu also commended the parliament for its commitment to harnessing the potential of the country’s youth.

He said the deliberations on the floor of the House of Representatives in the second reading of the bill to create the National Youth Service Trust Fund was a clear example of this.

He said the green chamber was unanimous on the bill which gives hope to the aspirations of Nigerian youth.

“This indicates that the drive to initiate policies and implement plans to address youth unemployment in the country looms large in the executive and legislative branches of government.

“We are confident that the NYSC trust fund bill, if passed, will undoubtedly remove more than 50 million young people from the unemployment market as soon as possible.

“We call on the relevant House of Representatives committees to continue to demonstrate strength of character and unity of purpose to ensure the smooth passage of the NYSC Trust Fund bill for the overall benefit of young people. nation’s unemployed,” he said.

Audi added that when the bill is enacted, it will serve as a vehicle for the country’s youth to maximize their potential and contribute their quota to the country’s growth and development.

He noted that the bill would strengthen the commitment of young people for the maintenance of democracy, given the invaluable role of young people in national development.

“We therefore call on the President and the Speaker of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to ensure that the NYSC Trust Fund Bill becomes law for the benefit and welfare of the suffering masses of Nigeria. .

“The multiplier effect on the value chain of a young and enterprising population cannot be overstated.

“The Unemployed Youth Empowerment Initiative takes this opportunity to drive home the potential benefits of seizing the opportunity to engage today’s youth in terms of food security, poverty reduction, job creation and political stability are huge,” he said. noted.

He also urged all Nigerians to support the bill, emphasizing the need for everyone to be on deck to ensure that the laudable initiative is given due consideration as shown by the lower house.
