General objective of the work
|
To improve football and the holistic development of players from the age groups under 14 to under 16. Manage the technical and tactical advancement (individual and team) of the players in collaboration with the coaches of the corresponding age groups.
Responsible for detailed holistic planning and implementation of individual learning plans in line with the club’s training and playing philosophy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
|
Personal development
Undertake personal development to ensure knowledge of all aspects of your role is up-to-date and cutting-edge:
- Participate in PDP ILP training sessions
- Participate in development team training sessions
- Occasionally replace absent coaches
Training program, game and training philosophy
Make sure the academy training program is always in line with the academy’s playing philosophy and training philosophy:
- Ensure that coaches produce game day/individual goals on a game basis
- Ensure coaches adhere to game day protocol
- Ensure that the minimum player to coach ratio for all sessions and games is adhered to at a ratio of 10:1
Games program
- All signed players will participate in an average of 50% of playing time over the season
- Each registered outfield player must take part in at least 30 U14, U15 and U16 matches per season.
- Provide or participate in a minimum of 3 festivals throughout the season
- Offer a football tournament once a season
Psychological program
- Provide player workshops on the 5Cs in line with the psychological program and adapt match day objectives accordingly.
- Assist, meet and communicate with the main psychologist to help with CPD in this area.
Sports science and medicine
- Communicate with the academy physio on a weekly basis on the physical progress of the player.
- Contact the lead strength and conditioning coach for updates on the player’s home conditioning program.
Performance analysis
- Communicate with the Performance Analyst assigned to the stage to ensure plays are tagged correctly and on time
- Produce and compile best practice clips
- Plan and prepare a group clip meeting every week for each age group
- Link PMA feedback to Dartfish (best practices / development areas)
- Record training monthly to review coaching and training methods
- Help players compile “Me at my best” player highlight reels
Comments
- Monitor players training and match minutes and comments are filled weekly on PMA by coaches.
- After each 6 week block, the player must receive a written MDT assessment from the Age Group Coach.
- Conduct four player and parent interviews and ensure academy player skills have been completed by players and their coaches.
- Monitor and assess ILPs and set/revise them every 6 weeks.
- End of season Multidisciplinary report provided to all players by the end of the season.
Administration
- Monitor and update player contacts and emergency details on Google Drive for signed and trial players.
- Communicate to players, parents and coaches on a weekly/monthly basis on schedule, fixtures and events.
- Always be available as a contact for players, parents and coaches in the YDP phase.
Sign players
- Contact the new signing and send the relevant information and arrange a signing meeting.
- Make the signing meeting presentation informing players and parents about the academy.
- Process student enrollment and release forms. Register players and ensure relevant EFL forms are completed and delivered to the club secretary.
- Maintain in accordance with governing body rules the registration database of all academy players.
Talent ID
- Communicate with Talent ID Manager about trial start dates
- Arrange rider induction – this should be done before the player trains and provide a rider pack.
- Meet with Talent ID Manager, HOR and AM to discuss the decision to sign the tester and implement the decision made according to the protocol.
Facilities
- On game day, ensure game day protocol is adhered to by players and coaches.
Meetings
- Attend and participate in AMT meetings.
- Organize and lead departmental multidisciplinary meetings.
- Attend and contribute to parent and player meetings.
Any other duties that may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the position and to assist the Director of the Academy.

- UEFA Coaching License A
- FA Advanced Youth Award (or in progress)
- Safeguard and protect children
- Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)

Experience required
|
Work experience in at least 1 of the following roles:
- A football coaching role
- A mentor/coaching role
Knowledge and/or experience of at least 3 of the following:
- The learning process in young people (pedagogy)
- Management and design of development programs
- Football training
- To manage a team
- manage people
- sports psychology
ICT experience of PMA, Excel, Word and any other software required to perform the duties required for the position.
