ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – Mayor Tim Keller and One Albuquerque: Youth Connect announced that lottery registration is now open for one-day, COVID-safe summer youth programs in the community centers and multi-generational centers in Albuquerque. Lottery registration will be open for two weeks and families will be notified and receive registration instructions once selected. If the available places fill up, families can be placed on a waiting list. The swimming, metro league and racquet sports programs will begin registration on May 8.

In-person summer activities for children of all ages have started and will be conducted under COVID safety procedures. Each camp will adhere to social distancing guidelines and the wearing of masks will be enforced. Cristin Chavez-Smith, who oversees the department, said they would conduct welfare checks on anyone participating in their programs. All community center staff and after-school time program staff will be tested for COVID-19 on a monthly basis.

Chavez-Smith encouraged parents to register in as many places as possible, so that they have the best chance of securing a place. Parents can visit yc.cabq.gov for dates and registration.
