Golf tournament for the benefit of a community center for young people

The 10th edition of the Ray Haskell Golf Invitational will take place on Wednesday August 11 at Waterville Country Club, 39 Country Club Road, Oakland.

Proceeds from the event, organized by the Alfond Youth & Community Center and Ray Haskell Ford, are to help give all children the opportunity to attend summer camp at Camp Tracy and participate in the programs offered at the center.

The tournament is an 18 hole scramble with a shotgun start at 11am; registration begins at 10 a.m. Features include prizes for the longest ride for men and women, an air gun challenge and putting contest, prizes and raffles, as well as silent auction items including MLB memorabilia and a Jotul fireplace.

Ray Haskell Ford, main co-sponsors Jo and Ray Boshold, Golden Pond Wealth Management and Valley Beverage contribute to the success of the event.

This year’s headliners include former Boston Red Sox stars Mike Torrez and Bill “Spaceman” Lee, as well as other former MLB players like Rick Miller and Steve Crawford.

A free baseball clinic hosted by former Major League Baseball players and the Red Sox Foundation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on August 11 at Purnell Wrigley Field on Matthews Avenue in Waterville for children ages 8 to 12 . To confirm your attendance, send an email to Crista Lavenson at [email protected].

The public is invited to support the event by becoming a sponsor or registering to play. The cost is $ 400 per adult or $ 1,500 for a team of four, which includes an awards dinner with MLB players after the event at Waterville Country Club.
