Pacquiao, the standard bearer of the Promdi party and the PDP-Laban (Pimentel wing) in the May 9 elections, said he will immediately continue his training as the only agency that will meet the needs of the country’s youth.

One of the priority objectives of the new department is to grant full scholarships to students who will pursue college studies and even master’s degrees.

“More on parang turuan sila, especially moral values, kasi, we need to empower them. Sila ang future, para maihanda ang mindset nila na sila ang-asa ng bayan,” Pacquiao said when asked what his proposed department would be tasked with doing.

Emphasizing that since young people will constitute the future leaders and citizens of the country, Pacquiao said the creation of a department that would equip them with what is needed to shape their values and character is imperative.

He said sports development and education are core parts of his proposed department.

“Kasama rin iyan, encourage natin sila para hindi matutong magbisyo-bisyo,” the Mindanaoan lawmaker said when asked if sports would be included in the responsibilities of the proposed department.

Pacquiao said it is time for the government to take care of the young people and ensure that their future is bright through support for better education, satisfying health, sports program and ideal moral guidance.

He also pledged to provide the nation’s youth with an education program that would fund their tuition and other educational needs.

“Iyong pagpapaaaral, hindi na sila magproblema kasi maglalaan ng pondo ang ating gobyerno para makapag-aral sila sa kolehiyo. Matatapos nila ang pag-aaral na wala silang gagastusin, kung hindi kaya ng kanilang mga magulang,” Pacquiao swore.

He said opportunities to undertake medical and legal studies and other higher education will be made available to the youth of the country.

“Katulad sa America, pwede silang mag-aral, mag-doktor ka, mag-abogado ka, pero kailangan magserbisyo muna sa gobyerno kahit dalawang horsefly, tatlong horsefly,” Pacquiao said.
