The Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, Hun Kosny, expressed her gratitude to the leaders of all education departments and units for their commitment to ensuring the sustainability of effective and quality student learning.

She wrote in a social media post that it was important to strengthen the education sector. Making youth a priority was key to improving the sector and society, adding that good students also lead to good schools.

She said this at the 23rd International Youth Day – themed “Youth and Key Activities in the School Community” – held on August 12 at the Kandal Provincial Teacher Training School. .

The event was attended by over 280 people, including department heads, teachers, students, youth council members, Red Cross youth, youth scouts and members of the Union of Federations of young people from Cambodia.

Kosny added that education is evolving into a more comprehensive technical form, in line with Cambodia’s Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035.

“This is very important because our young people need new, modern and high quality educational services, especially as we see the rapid growth in the use of technology and the Internet,” she said. for follow-up.

Kosny urged the provincial education department – as well as the private education sector – to take the initiative and provide short-term vocational training to build the capacity of young people. This would enable them to capitalize on the opportunities that the modern economy would present and meet the socio-economic needs that focus on results and practical practice. These skills would make an invaluable contribution to their ability to contribute to society, she added.

She also said that in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the educational needs of young people have changed profoundly. They need new learning methods and access to new skills training; including digital skills to meet the challenges of the 21st century and a changing labor market.

Mam Poly, deputy director of the provincial education department, said the event was a success. The day was held in accordance with the orientation of the department’s work for the academic years 2021-2022. The theme aimed to improve school development and the quality of education across the province.

He said youth activities should connect with the community to increase cooperation, meet government needs and encourage potential resources for young people in the future.
