BAU, December 15 – Marketing of young people is the main focus of Gabungan Party Sarawak (GPS) candidate Miro Semuh in Serembu constituency during his campaign for the 12th elections in Sarawak state.

From Kampung Kandis Baru here, he said several programs have been planned to strengthen the group’s involvement in vocational training, before they enter the world of work.

“We need to provide young people between the ages of 18 and 20 with effective programs so that they can enter the world of work in the next two to three years, especially those who did not pass their exam very well Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). They are not yet qualified for the job.

“For example, we put them in training centers and provide them with certain skills and courses before they go to work, such as in wiring, agriculture and mechanics. So that they can apply these skills while working later, ”he said recently in an interview with Bernama.

Miro, 49, who is also the deputy youth leader of the Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Party (PBB), said digital economy plans and programs also need to be improved as the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and technological advances compelled the community to embrace digital business.

The Serembu-born Bidayuh said internet facilities in Serembu need to be upgraded to enable its residents to conduct transactions and business activities online.

“The concept of a digital economy brought in by the Sarawak government coincided with the time when Covid-19 hit, and all sales were done online. There was a time when people placed very little importance on online methods, but the pandemic has now made it very important.

“As such, the concept of digital electronic marketing needs to be further promoted to enable more Sarawakans to do business online,” he said.

Regarding the development of infrastructure in the constituency, he said that the focus is now on the construction of new roads and new settlements in the region.

Miro will face Sarawak Bersatu Party (PSB) candidate Iana Akam, Michael Saweng (PKR), Buln Patrick Ribos (Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak Party) and Dr Jecky Misieng (PBK) in Serembu in the poll on December 18.

In the state’s 11th election, Miro won the seat with a majority of 1,397 votes in a fight from all corners. Bernama
