Ripken Foundation and Group 1001 Open Youth Development Park on Prince George County Police Department grounds


LANDOVER, MD., November 30, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF), in partnership with Group 1001, today announced that it is close to completing Foundation Project 101st Youth Development Park (PDJ). Completion of the park is scheduled for this winter. This multipurpose lawn park will be on the grounds of the Prince George County Police Department, the first YDP in the country to be built on the land of a police department. It’s the 13the YDP will be built and offered to an organization serving young people as a direct result of the Foundation’s partnership with Groupe 1001 which began in 2018 with a $ 5 million gift.

In addition to transformational YDP projects, Groupe 1001 has supported numerous CRSF programs that have a daily impact on underserved communities across the country. The relationship between the CRSF and the Prince George County The police service is deep and long standing. Since 2013, the service, through the Police Athletic League, has been running the Foundation Badges for baseball program which associates young people with local law enforcement agencies. This YDP reinforces the strong commitment between the two organizations and solidifies it for the years to come.
