Youth development my top priority – Bolaji Abdullah

Bolaji Abdullahi, former Sports Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Kwara Central Senatorial District, said youth empowerment would be the top priority if elected.

Responding to questions from reporters in Ilorin after being confirmed as the sole candidate to serve the people of his constituency, Abdullah vowed to take the job very seriously and work harder than expected in making the system better than he has. meet.

According to him, the members of PDP Kwara Central have unanimously accepted, declared and confirmed him as the candidate to be the flag bearer of the party in the next general elections.

He said: “This is an opportunity I don’t take for granted. It is one that I take very seriously, because I believe that in a democracy, the National Assembly is a center of representation of the people and it is where the business of government takes place.

“For me, I believe that every politician has a reason to be a politician – not the most enjoyable occupation. In my experience, I think every politician has a reason to be a politician.

“My own reason is the same in 2019 when I tried to run for governor. I clearly announced what my reason was. That I wanted to be governor at that time to promote youth development and that’s why I said my number one priority is youth development, my number two priority is youth development, third priority is youth development, that has not changed.

“When you have 60% of your population made up of young people between the ages of 18 and 35; you can’t do anything else that makes sense beyond focusing on youth development.

“How do you give skills to young people who are uneducated, how do you give young educated people an opportunity in life, how do you help young people in their careers, how do you give young people the right kind of value that can make them patriotic citizens? These are the reasons why I am a politician and when I arrive at the National Assembly; in Sha Allah, these will be the main purpose of my performance.

“It’s about how to help young people in terms of education, skills development and so on. This will be my priority. I believe that by the grace of God, I will be a voice for my constituency – Asa/Ilorin West/Ilorin East/Ilorin South in the National Assembly.

“I think the situation we are going to face in 2023 is remarkably different from where we come from. Wherever we come from; it will be a major turning point for Nigeria.

“So what each constituency will get will depend on the quality of the voice that represents that constituency in the National Assembly and I believe I can give that quality voice.”
